Precision Over Padding.
The Peaks is the thinnest in the Surefoot series, and that's a deliberate choice. In a properly fitted ski boot, volume is the enemy – more material between foot and boot means worse power transfer, reduced circulation and colder feet. The Peaks is the sock bootfitters recommend when a skier already has a boot that fits. In Surefoot's US stores it accounts for 77% of all sock sales.
Typical Peaks Skiers
- The aggressive carver who wants to feel every turn and demands everything from the boot.
- The skier with cold feet who has tried thicker socks without it helping – because the problem was too much volume, not too little insulation.
- Racers, instructors and everyday skiers with many days a year who need minimal material fatigue.
- Boot-fitted skiers whose boot is already matched to the foot – the sock should support that fit, not change it.
How the Vapor Technology Works
Your feet stay dry, warm and odor-free all ski day. The merino wool regulates temperature with your body – warm while you stand in the lift line, cool when your pulse climbs. Nylon and spandex hold the sock's shape through dozens of washes.
The sock fits your foot precisely – not a generic boot size. The women's version has a narrower heel and lower instep; the men's is wider across the forefoot. The result: no blisters, no slipping that forces mid-run adjustments, and no pressure points after eight hours in the boot. All eight zones by name: secure knit comfort cuff, calf compression support, above-ankle support band, ankle compression support, cushioned deep heel pocket, arch/instep support band, seamless comfort toe box, and the anatomical foot zone.

When Should You Choose Something Else?
If you want the same Peaks performance in a classic pattern, the Vapor Diamond is identical in construction. If you've experienced shin bang (redness or pain along the shin after long days), the Vapor Plus adds cushioning exactly there. Unsure? See the full comparison.
